Thoughts
My work represents the influence of emotion and spirit upon
our lives. Passion, whether
heartache, pain, joy, elation, or love is my source of inspiration.
Metal is the language I use to tell my story.
Using mixed metals, gemstones, and collected objects; I express life as I
see it. Imagery from within provides the challenge for my hands to
create the work. Every piece is a
narrative, affected by memories, beliefs, and dreams.
My goal is passing on this energy and creative spirit that inspires me. Much of my work is collage.
The randomness and freedom of this method of working gives each piece an
identity and direction of its own, paralleling the eccentricities of life.
My approach to wearable sculpture is inspired by the history of adornment
as symbolic and significant. Examples
from the past remind us that people adorn themselves to express honor, love,
commitment, faith, hope, protection, and courage.
Drawing from this rich history, I explore themes of romance, strength,
and self-empowerment from a contemporary point of view. |
